This past weekend was a bit of a roller coaster, to say the least. Minnie is allergic to a lot of things, one of them being the rabies vaccine. She still needs to get it every two years because it's law, so not getting it is not a option.
I'm not sure what changed, but it was the most scary and frightening Sunday afternoon ever. She got the chills, threw-up and then broke out in a series of hives/welts. Thank goodness my vet is amazing and took her in right away. We paid to keep her overnight for observation but by around 9 her hives had gone away so we wanted to take her home.
The only condition was we had to check on her every hour or so. But it was worth it. I am so happy to have her home. I can't imagine my life without her pretty face and so glad she is feeling better.
Moral of the story - hug your pet. (And, rabies vaccines are not "Minnie friendly...")
