A Trip Back In Time

7/31/12

Visiting Boone Hall Plantation in Charleston, SC is like stepping back in time.
It is one of America's oldest working living plantations.
They still grow many crops on the property and offer a tour of the house and grounds.
If the house looks familiar, that's because it was Allie's family home in the movie The Notebook!
I loved visiting Boone Hall and I am certain that we will be back again.

Southern Hospitality at The Governor's House Inn

7/25/12

The Governor's House Inn in Charleston, South Carolina is truly one of a kind.
Filled with antiques and southern hospitality, the inn is actually a National Historic Landmark due to the fact that it was once the residence of Edward Rutledge - the youngest signer of the Declaration Of Independence.

From it's gorgeous sweeping front porch and friendly staff, to convenient location on Broad Street, the Governor's House Inn offers something for everyone.
We especially enjoyed the taking out the bikes that are complimentary to guests. They were great for exploring the idyllic streets south of Broad Street to all along the Battery Promenade.

We will remember our stay at The Governor's House Inn forever and are already planning a trip back soon.

PS. Did I mention it is a Bed & Breakfast?  I looked forward to the delicious gourmet breakfast enjoyed on the beautiful porch every morning!

Down the woodland path

7/23/12

It's amazing how a relaxing bike ride through the forest can quickly turn into an exciting adventure, all thanks to an undiscovered woodland path. We came upon this path over the weekend which lead to a vast clearing full of corn and the the most beautiful purple flowers. It was a delightful surprise.
Nature's beauty never ceases to amaze me.

North Of Broad

Charleston, South Carolina is one of my favorite cities in the world.
I love that you can walk or bike virtually anywhere - especially to my favorite bars, restaurants and bakeries. When you are in Charleston I highly recommend the following places:

Spectaular Strawberries

7/11/12

We finally got out and picked some local strawberries a couple weekends ago - and loved it!
It was so peaceful and calm, being in the fields with just the fruit, bees and each other.
We have since vowed to pick our own more often and support local farmers.
